How to Replace an replacement audi Key cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. This sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

Located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 via the grey wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the location of the camshaft so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate a chain stretch or a jumped chain link in the upper chain. However, the error code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. If you're having issues with this part, check for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at full speed I noticed a significant decrease in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked with gasoline and the fourth was dry. I placed a tissue over each hole in the injector and when i turn the engine on without sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The fourth one remains shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I assume that the problem is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID without success. The car is able to start if the G28 is disconnected and is running fine when it is connected but it still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when it is unplugged, shows a temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not sure what to do, but i think i've pretty much ruled out everything else. However, i'm afraid that I might have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is identical to the G4 and they both work in the 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a wrecking yard or audi Key fob Replacement (http://elektroavto.lv/user/sandgear52) at a parts store. It is simple to test them - simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing upwards). They must be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY and ADU) engines have an ECU that needs to know the position and speed of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injector, replacement key for audi a4 example. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If either of these sensors go badly, you will see codes on the diagnostic scanner which can cause the engine to shut down.

Some of the symptoms of a failed G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox and gears that shift faster than normal and/or a misfire when in gear. It is probable that the sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you notice any of these signs. The good thing is that they are very cheap and easily accessible particularly when you're looking at a Bosch unit like ours. Alternatively, GM's version of this part would be an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a variety of issues in your car. It's an essential component of the audi replacement key cost's transmission because it communicates to the ECU about how the car's crankshaft is turning. This sensor could cause the transmission to fail and other car components to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear and sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU is then able to process the signal to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost, and also transmitting it to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. It should show approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between those two pins. This is a standard component across the audi a1 car key 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones might be availble in wrecking yards.
