Our road trip itinerary through Jalisco began in the state capital of Guadalajara. This bustling metropolis is the birthplace of mariachi music and tequila, two iconic symbols of Mexican culture. We spent our first day exploring the historic center, where we marveled at the beautiful colonial architecture and visited the impressive Cathedral of Guadalajara. We also made sure to sample some delicious street food and sip on some locally-made tequila at a traditional cantina.

Our next stop was the town of Tequila, located just a short drive from Guadalajara. Here, we visited several tequila distilleries and learned about the fascinating process of making this iconic Mexican spirit. We also explored the charming town center, with its colorful buildings and cobblestone streets.

From Tequila, we headed to the town of Tapalpa, nestled in the mountains of Jalisco. This picturesque town is known for its stunning natural beauty and outdoor activities. We spent a couple of days hiking in the nearby Sierra de Tapalpa national park, admiring the lush forests, stunning waterfalls, and breathtaking views.

Our next destination was the town of Ajijic, located on the shores of Lake Chapala, the largest lake in Mexico. This charming town is home to a large expat community and is known for its laid-back vibe and beautiful sunsets. We spent a couple of days exploring the town, strolling along the lakefront promenade, and sampling some delicious local cuisine.

This bustling town is known for its vibrant market, where we picked up some souvenirs and sampled some delicious street food. We also took a boat trip on the lake, admiring the stunning scenery and learning about the local birdlife.

Our road trip through Jalisco was an unforgettable experience, full of culture, history, and adventure. From the bustling streets of Guadalajara to the tranquil shores of Lake Chapala, we were able to immerse ourselves in the rich tapestry of Jalisco's heritage.
